Contest of Champions Update
2010 CoC 40K composition has been posted. It is subject to adjustments based on errors and oversights, but it gives you a clear idea of what is scored and how it will be scored.
For 2010 the CoC will be using victory points to determine game results rather than the scenario condiitons of objectives and kill points. Specific scenarios will grant bonus points for holding objectives, but they will not be the sole determinent of the outcome.
Due to GW cutting back prize support we will be increasing the entry fee for the 2010 Contest of Champions to $12.00. This $1.00 increase will allow us to to continue to offer excellent prize support for the tournaments as follows:
Awards will be given for the following catagories for each tournament:
Best Overall – $90 gift card
Best Sport – $50 gift card
Best General – $35.00 gift card
Best Painted Army – $35.00 gift card
Grot award – $10.00 gift card
Player’s Choice Award – Free entry into the next tournament
Scoring for each tournament will be based on a total possible 153 points. For the first tournament, which as four games rather than three, scores will be weighted to get to the proper total.
Battle Score – 60 pts
Composition Score – 40 pts*
Sportsmanship Score – 33 pts**
Paint Score – 20 pts
* Comp score is added to battle score to determine the best general award.
** during the first tournament only, 34 points will be possible for sportsmanship score.
As in previous years, there will be an annual champion determined after the final tournament. A player will be eligible for the championship by attending four or more 40K CoC tournaments over the course of the year. If a player attends more than four tournaments, only the players four highest scores will be used to calculate his or her placing. Additionally, any player that attends all six 2010 40K CoC tournaments will receive a $50 gift card at the end of the last tournament.
