ARMY COMPOSITION CHECKLIST

For each item below, place a check next to the item if your army meets the criteria. There are fifteen items for a total possible comp score of 30. Do not check a box more than one time, either you meet the criteria or you don’t. Additional points can be earned for an armies theme even if the army does not achieve maximum comp (that means present a back ground story and name your units.

  1. At least 40% of the army (740 pts) is in Troop selections.
  2. No more than 25% of the points of the army (463 pts) are spent in any category other than troops.
  3. No force organization selections other than Troops are maxed out.
  4. No more than 10% of the army (185 pts) is spent on war gear/armory, including Daemonic Gifts, Veteran Skills, Psychic Powers, vehicle upgrades, etc…
  5. The army has three or fewer fearless units. Any unit that automatically passes all leadership tests are counted as fearless for purposes of this comp item. Synaptic creatures and units count as fearless, the units they can make fearless, but are not always so, do not count.
  6. The army includes at least two Troop selections at 100% size.
  7. The army includes no more than 15 power weapons or 25 rending close combat weapons. Any model that negates the armor save in HTH combat is considered for the purposes of this checkbox, including monstrous creatures.
  8. The army includes no more than one ordinance template weapon. IG are allowed two without violating this item.
  9. The army includes no monstrous creature or dreadnaught as an HQ choice. Tyranid players are allowed to have one exception to this comp item.
  10. The army contains no models with three or more wounds that cannot be doubled out. Tyranid players are allowed to have one model that violates this comp item.
  11. The army has spent fewer points on vehicles (including dedicated transports) than on infantry. Infantry that have had a transport purchased for them still count towards the infantry total points just as their transport counts towards the vehicle points.
  12. This army contains no more than five weapons of any type that has an AP or 2 or better.
  13. The army contains no more than one vehicle with a total of 48 or greater armor value when combining all four sides of the vehicles armor.
  14. This army has three or fewer infiltrating units in the army (this includes drop pods and summoned units).
  15. Any HQ selection costs 125 pts or less. A retinue attached to an HQ selection do not count towards this total.

This composition checklist was designed for the first ever Capital Punishment Indy GT. It will change over the course of the year based on feedback from the players. The purpose of this composition checklist is to encourage players to take balanced armies instead of specializing too much. We realize that it will be difficult to get a perfect comp score with this checklist and expect the average score to be 24-26. So if you fall in this range you should be pretty average. Also note, a high composition score is not required. Some players may choose to play armies that get a comp score of 10 or less. They are allowed to do so, but be warned, it will be difficult to place very high in the tournament if your score in any of the four areas (Comp, Sport, Paint, Battle) is too low.
