2005 Contest of Champions Scoring System
This new scoring system applies to both Warhammer Fantasy and
Warhammer 40K and is subject to change over the course of playtesting.
A players top four scores over the course of the year will be be used for
final scoring. If a player competes in more than four of the CoC events then the
lowest scores will be dropped and only the highest four scores used when determining
the winner.
There will be no judge scoring.
Prizes will be awarded at each tournament for Overall Winner, Best Sportsmanship and Best Painted Army.
Additional prizes may be awarded based on event attendance.
Players will receive scores for battle, sportsmanship and paint.
At the end of every battle players will submit their battle scores, as determined by the scenario, to the judge. Battle scores will have a maximum of 20 points and a minimum score of 8 points.
At the end of the tournament, each player will submit a sheet that rates his or her opponents in Sportsmanship/Comp and Paint. The player will rate his/her opponents as first, second or third in each of the two categories.
Players will receive 20 points for each first they receive in a category, 15 points for each second, and 10 points for each third.
In a three game tournament a player can receive a maximum score of 60 in each category and minimum of 30 in sportsmanship and paint and a minimum of 24 in battle score.
In the event of a tie on Overall score, the tie will be broken by Sportsmanship score and then by Paint score.
In the event of a tie in Sportsmanship, the tie will be broken by Paint score.
In the event of a tie in Paint score, the tie will be broken by a vote on the tied armies by all present players that did not judge one of the armies during the tournament.
It is our hope that this system will:
Encourage new players to participate as they will be assured a minimum score in every category.
Lesson the curve on score so that the year long event will remain competitive until the last tournament and thus keep the attendance up.
Eliminate player unhappiness with judges scoring.
Prevent players from giving opponents zero scores in Sportsmanship for unjust reason.
