WARHAMMER 40K CONTEST OF CHAMPIONS 2009 COMPOSITION SCORING
Here is the CoC new
composition (comp) scoring for the 2009 40K season. Again, the prime
consideration was to promote reasonable armies while still allowing every
Codex to achieve a perfect comp. Certain codexes (Daemons) has made this
difficult as I had to drop many of our old comp scoring mechanics, such as
invulnerable saves and deep striking, or daemon armies could not score maximum
comp. Since Daemon armies can be exceptionally tough with even a basic
army I have upped the ante allowing other armies to be stronger by removing
certain comp items such as power weapon limitations and AP1 weapons. The
changes in the 5th edition rules also made much of the old comp
system obsolete as the game has a different focus on victory conditions. This
comp system is not perfect, but it is what we have to work with. If I find
that people are building completely over the top armies within the comp system
I will adjust it over the course of the year.
One last, and very
important change to comp. Comp will no longer be a separate scoring category
nor a prize category. A players comp score will be added to their battle
score at the end of the tournament to determine total battle score (so battle
score will equal three games battle scores plus the comp score).
I want to thank those of
you who contributed time and ideas to the new comp system, especially Steve
and Ananda Sisk for their input.
