2008 Contest of Champions The Contest of Champions is an annual series of tournaments for both Warhammer and Warhammer 40K. The events are sponsored by Great Escape Games and Games Workshop and are run by Great Escape Games using our in-house scoring system. Each tournament series is comprised of six individual tournaments held bi-monthly over the course of the year. Each individual tournament has it's own winners and prizes, but the individual scores are added together to determine the year's overall winner. To determine the overall winner for the year, four of a players scores from the year's six tournaments are added together. What this means is that a player must attend at least four of the six tournaments over the course of the year to be eligible to win the series. If a player attends more than four of the tournaments, only the four highest scores will be counted (thus it is very advantageous to attend all six tournaments). Each of the twelve tournaments (six for Fantasy and six for 40K) has it's own prizes for Overall Winner, Best Sportsmanship, Best General, Best Army Appearance, and Best Army Composition. Last year the Overall Winner received a Battalion Box of their choice, which was generously provided by Games Workshop. The year's Overall Winner receives a Boxed Army (last year's Fantasy winner received an High Elf Boxed army, while the 40K winner received a Space Ork Boxed army). The boxed army received is the latest boxed army for the game in question. There is also an attendance prize for any player that attends all six of the tournaments in either series.
